Cloaking is working just fine. Some of you people just need to grow some hair on your chest and play Eve. At no point in this game should you feel 100% safe when you are undocked.

And I never do. Cloaking isn't this unbeatable thing some people make it out to be. It seems to be the equivalent of the Boogeyman for some people in null sec.
Be happy you have to local to even know someone else is with you. I spend almost all of my Eve life with no local, and lord knows how many people are in system with me.

Its compltelly one sided.
I dont get it, what such a big deal to click cloak every once in a while?? Its not that hard is it?? Are you afraid of getting caught with bots or somthing??
Now that i had to put it in plain english for you.
Whats your reason??
So, just so I am clear, you are fine as long as someone has to click their cloak every once in a while. How would this be any different? You would still have a cloaky neutral in your system, just hanging out. The only difference is he wouldn't be afk and a lot more dangerous. Your decision making would still be reactionary, you still wouldn't be able to hunt him, and it would be all up to him to pull the trigger.
Your solution has nothing to do with afk cloaking and everything to do with wanting to feel "safe and secure" in 0.0 space. Is there anything else Eve can do to coddle you while you play?

I am fairly certain you missed my point completely. I can still be active and just sitting a safe spot. You won't hunt me down. You won't harass me. You won't decloak me.
Your "click your cloak every once in a while" is a flawed idea, at best. Besides, the real issue is that people don't want to risk anything while running anoms. They will warp off, dock up/pos up, and wait for local to clear out. Then they will get back to doing what they are doing.
It's all about risk vs reward, and the carebears don't want to risk it with someone in local. (cloaked or otherwise)

Wouldn't it be easier, and less impactful for the rest of Eve to just not allow cynos in anoms?

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I thought Mag's posts were pretty easy and to the point.
The issue seems to be what these cloaky players do when they are active. Perhaps I missed something in Eve, but I thought only active players can light cynos and hotdrop you.
If you come across this, can you not move to another system?

To me this would sound like the perfect change to bait. He warps in, lights a cyno, and you do the same. PVP FUN!

It doesn't make the system useless at all. Your decision to not risk it makes the system useless for you.

If they ever do make changes to cloaking like some of the suggestions I've seen, I hope they keep it in null sec only. That would pretty much ruin the fun for wh space.
And just fyi, you don't need probes to scan down wh anoms. The onboard scanner gets those just fine.

If the isk is so easy to make, why don't you guys counter the afk cloaker with one of your own. it shouldn't be anything to just get another account with the isk so free flowing. Surely that will make him think twice before doing anything mean and bad.

This is what I do when I decide to do a ladar site in my wh. Put an alt cloaked on our static wh and turn the volume up. That way I can tell if anyone jumps into the system just by the sound itself. It's called adapting to an environment, something some of the nullbears seem unwilling to do.

As long such ideas stay in null sec and out of wh space, you guys can do whatever you'd like.

The big disadvantage of wormhole space is that cynos are useless.
So the worst that can happen there is a fleet of Covert Recons.
In 0.0, you could actually end up with a fleet of carriers, dreads, blackopses, etc. from 1 covert ops guy.
I find that to be one of wormhole life's greatest assets. No cynos makes people plan/think a little more. And truth be told, I can't remember any time where I was just jumped by a cov ops fleet. Normally its a cov ops tackling and trying to survive while help is on the way.

Local is the reason for AFK cloaking in the context of psychological warfare. Without local, it serves no purpose other than just burning electricity for the sake of not logging off. People AFK cloak because they know they can be seen, while ever they are away doing whatever.
That is because his real issue was never about AFK cloaking. It was about cloaking in general, and how he is unable to defend against it.

In Null Sec, can't you cyno jam a system with some sort of pos mod? If this is the case, why don't you just run your anoms, rat, etc.... in that system? That would solve all your problems.

Originally by: Andrea Roche hmm i thought you knew this. In 0.0 you can jump in black ops and covert ops and recon. Cyno jaming only works for capital ships not for this other type of ships. These are more organized, fast, and comes with a lot of ecm warefar usually. You are dead in seconds in a battleship or battlecruise. On capitals usually takes longer to die, depending on fittings ofcource.
I mean no offence to anyon but am i discussing this with a guy that lives in a wormhole and another that lives in empire space cos this is pritty basic stuff?
Correct. I do live in a wh. However, you are wanting to change a game mechanic that is far more important for wormholes than null sec. Just out of curiously though, how many times have you had a cloaky drop a cyno on you?
